Diagnosis: mouth terminal; two pairs of well-developed barbels, posterior pair 1.25-1.75x eye diameter; lateral line complete; 23-26 scales in lateral line; 4.5 scales between lateral line and origin of dorsal fin; 12 scales around caudal peduncle; posterior margin of dorsal fin straight; last simple ray of dorsal fin flexible, not serrated; large dark stripe on sides; found in the Loémé River, Republic of Congo (Ref. 81639).
Description: medium-sized species, body rather elevated; scales radially striated; 4.5 scales between lateral line and mid-belly; 2.5 scales between lateral line and pelvic fin insertion; D:III,8; dorsal fin with straight border, last simple ray flexible, not serrated (Ref. 81639).
Coloration: black longitudinal band extending from tip of snout to distal part of caudal peduncle; simple rays and anterior tip of dorsal fin dark (Ref. 81639).
